Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy

Africa House (NI) takes its responsibilities for health and safety very seriously. We are committed to the protection of children and vulnerable adults and will work to ensure our practices promote their welfare and protect them from harm.

We will endeavour to safeguard children by:
  • Adopting child protection guidelines through a code of behaviour for staff and volunteers. Providing effective guidance, support and management to staff and volunteers through a Code of Conduct, training and supervision.
  • Working co-operatively with schools and statutory agencies, reporting any concerns or disclosures.
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures have been developed and are embedded in all our operational work, e.g. recruitment, programme development, data handling, media and communications.
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensuring all our educative work and practice raises awareness of the rights of children and their need to be protected.
